1 note I feel the need to upload this photograph of mine.
I took it in Chengdu, China 2010.
One day, our bike decided to pop one of its tyres, so me and my dad had to walk around this city trying to figure out how to get back to the hotel, or how to get the tyre fixed. As you can imagine, in a non-english speaking country, that is a tricky task.
While we were pushing the bike down the road, I saw this elderly man sitting on the side of the road. He was resting entirely on his walking stick, with his small donation box in front of him.
When I walked past, I showed him my camera and asked him if I could take a photograph of him. The moment I took this photo, was the moment he began indicating to me that he did not want a photo.
I took the photo anyway, and I’m glad I did, because to me, it speaks a million truths.
His donation box was empty until I filled it up for him.
People need to realise there is a world outside. we all affect each other, in one way or another. I hope this image sparks some thought into your mind.
